Our mission is to advance education by providing funds for students who wish to go to college who would otherwise not be able to afford it. The genocide perpetrated by the Khmer Rouge targeted the educated among many others. We at The Dith Pran Foundation are helping those determined to go further with their studies and in turn enrich Cambodia over their lifetime. A more educated community makes for a better world.
Welcome to the Dith Pran Foundation. We are presently providing funds to send five Cambodian students to college in Cambodia for the 2016- 2017 school year.
Each year we will add a minimum of five more students.
The Dith Pran Foundation is in honor of Dith Pran, (who as a survivor of what he called the 'Killing Fields') promised, if he survived, to tell the world about the fate of the Cambodian people under the brutal regime of the Khmere Rouge. His mission and his message was to make sure that never happens again. While he was a photojournalist for the New York Times he often spoke to the younger generation educating them about his story and his mission.
